This is a fascinating subject. Perhaps even on the cutting edge of AI as far as games go. Chess is deep in it's gamespace - but IBM built a computer 10 years ago that defeated the greatest world champion ever (Garri Kasparov). Is poker different ? Uniquely human ? Can machines tell lies convincingly and spot liars ? Poker was a field of interest for Janos (John) Von Neumann (!) The originator of game theory himself was a poker player (a bad one reputedly) and was contemplating algorithms that played poker profitably. Alas that was the 50s and such computers did not yet exist. And now ? 60 years later - you can buy a robot on the internet that plays online poker for you (with your money and credit). But does it win ? How many are "robots" are out there ? How do you get one ? How do you make one ? Wow many copies of each robot are out there ? Is using a robot - one account at a time - really cheating ? What about bots that share information from multiple accounts playing simultaneously at the same table ? Do they cheat in other ways too ?
